Well, I found acrylic paint the best choice for making slime since it is water-based, and the pigment in its composition is relatively stable and doesn’t make stains on your palms, finger, and hand while playing with it. Even though I’ve used acrylic paint for handprints of my babies.

Why would you spend 35-100$ or more on buying slime when you can make it your own at home? Yes, they cost highly depending on their quality. On the other hand, if you prepare them yourself, the cost is reduced to more than half. Below are the details of DIY slime, step by step.

In order to make a high-quality slime, you’ll need the following substances. Even if you can’t get these affordable and readily available materials, you can use alternates (I’ll discuss the alternatives as well). The recipe for making slime is as follows.
- Liquid Starch
Liquid starch works as an activator and is commonly available at general stores. It is used in the laundry as it provides strength to fabric materials.
Starch has a branch structure at the micro level, which is why we need it to link the molecules in slime, so they don’t disperse. Moreover, it helps bind the molecules firmly. You can order it online or buy it from the nearest laundry or general store.
Note: Borax, salt, and baking soda can be used as an activator too.
- Glue
